Liyolatha Tubeni

Liyolatha believes that every conversation has the potential to change how we see each other and ourselves. Drawn to people, stories, and the spaces between them, she has a natural ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and understood. Whether she is working with young people, facilitating discussions, or navigating new environments, she brings curiosity, warmth, and a genuine interest in human connection.

A graduate of the University of Cape Town, Liyolatha completed her Bachelor of Social Sciences in Sociology and Linguistics on the Dean's Merit List and is currently pursuing her Honours in Linguistics. Her academic interests sit at the intersection of language, identity, and society, exploring how language shapes the way we understand ourselves and relate to others.

Alongside her studies, Liyolatha works at the UCT Office of Inclusivity & Change and in student-facing administration. These experiences strengthen her ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, listen with intention, and build relationships across different communities.

She is also a debate facilitator to high school children in schools with limited resources. Here, she helps create spaces where young people can think critically, express themselves confidently, and engage with new ideas. As both facilitator and tournament coordinator across schools, Liyolatha is embedded in youth-focused initiatives and in helping young people find their voice and confidence.

Passionate about culture, media, and social impact, Liyolatha joins Colour-Full with a belief that meaningful change begins with conversation, curiosity, and our shared humanity.
